Update For My Book Storefronts

For everyone wondering what’s been going on over at Amazon and the book storepages going missing as they have, I’m afraid I have some bad news. Recently I received a notice from Amazon that my Kindle storepage had been taken down, citing only a vague reason for my account “attempting to manipulate their services”. Responding to the notice to dispute it was only met with automated messages from their system, ignoring everything I wrote and saying the decision was final. Of the rare times I was able to contact a human being at Amazon to talk about the account being wrongfully closed, I was redirected to their automated system, which again replied with a basic “tough luck, we made our choice.” Multiple attempts to appeal the wrongful termination of my account were met with deaf ears from their automated replies.

So there you have it. I have no idea why my account was flagged for suspicious behavior, I have no ability to dispute their claim as they will not listen to anyone, and based on what I’ve heard from horror stories of other authors suffering the same problem like this out of the blue in the past, there is no recourse as Amazon simply doesn’t care if their system wrongfully terminated someone’s account. And no, I’m not calling for a “Boycott Amazon, boo on Amazon!” campaign here. As upset as I am about these events, I’m not blind to the fact that there is simply nothing I can do about it. Nothing will change Amazon’s mind, nothing will make them see the error that was made, and as much as I don’t care for them now, it’s not like I’m going to stop ordering from Amazon’s website in the future myself because, let’s face it, they have a monopoly on online service and product sales and there really is no getting around that.

I will, however, be taking down my audiobook version of Chronicles of Eden – Act I from their ACX service, as I don’t see a reason to continue selling my books of any kind on their platform after this abuse. I suspect they will not notice nor care about that either.

And that brings us up to now. Over a decade of selling on Amazon with my books has just been wiped out, just like that, all because of what was likely a simple error on their part that they couldn’t be bothered with fixing. Still, this does show that it isn’t practical or safe to “carry all your eggs in one basket”, so to speak. While Amazon will no longer be a storefront for my books, there are other options that I’ve begun reinstating, and I will not be going with any platforms that require they be the sole distributor of my books again.

With that, I have updated all the store links on my AGordongPublishing.com and ChroniclesofEden.com websites to direct to the now open storefronts for my books. Some are still in the process of coming online, and I have to find a few more homes for the digital collections that are currently only available on Google Play Books. I know there are people that only prefer to use Amazon for their ebooks, and to that all I can say is, sorry but I would not expect Amazon to reverse their decision out of the goodness of their hearts at this point, so do not expect to see my books coming back there again. And to everyone who posted reviews for my books in the past, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to screenshot them before the pages were taken down. I did love reading what people wrote about my stories, and I hope to see new ones appear as I continue to write my books and publish them for as long as I can.

For now, below is a list of the ebook distributors that will host my books moving forward:

  • Google Play Books
  • Barnes&Noble
  • Rakuten Kobo
  • Apple Books
  • Everand
  • Tolino
  • OverDrive
  • CloudLibrary
  • Baker&Taylor
  • Hoopla
  • Odilo
  • Vivlio
  • BorrowBox
  • Smashwords
  • Palace Marketplace
  • Gardners
  • Fable

  1. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!!
Sorry to hear about all the problems Amazon has been giving you about your books.
I see no problem with them as they are one of my favorite series and I haven’t been able to read the newest one!!
I just got off the phone with one of the agents when I found out that they were taken down permanently and gave them an earful, not that it’ll accomplish anything but made feel better for yelling at them for what they said is a “licencing issue” and that I’m pissed that they took.these books down.
Such BS! Anyway I love my kindle but will happily go to another platform to read the Chronicles of Eden series!

    Hope everything gets better!
Can’t wait to read more of this series!!
